For this unit’s discussion, you will analyze different stakeholders’ positions in your argument and find one source that demonstrates an area of common ground you expect to find among the many stakeholders. Be sure to review the discussion board example and unit 3 and 4 readings before you start working on your discussion. Then, respond to the following prompts in at least two well-developed paragraphs:
Important!!! The thesis statement i picked is about one of my community issues that’s been going on for a while, we do not have a dog park and almost every family in my community have a dog or even more. We do have a really big community park with a large frass area using as soccer field and people been using that as an unofficial dog park. The problem is there is no fences or anything to stop the dogs from running on to the street or to the sidewalks, and people always unleash their dogs while they play in the community park. I walk my two little yorkies on the sidewalk with leashes on but theres always other dogs that unleashed run to us. Sometimes they just want to play but there were serval times my dogs almost got bitten by big dogs. My audience would be all the house owners in my community and also the HOA company. My solution would be building a dog park inside the community or at least put up some fences to separate the dogs that playing in the community park without leashes on to ensure the safety of both dog owners and their dogs.
1. Share your revised thesis and tell us who the key stakeholders are. Whom does this issue affect that we do not often hear from? What aspects of the argument do you expect most stakeholders to agree about? Identify three search terms you could use to find evidence that helps to illustrate the common ground between stakeholders. Hint: The learning activity “Choosing & Using Keywords” can help you figure out what search terms to use as you seek out common ground sources.
2. Using the search terms above, find one source in the Purdue Global Library that helps to illustrate the problem and establish common ground with stakeholders. Identify one main idea from the source you want to use and why you selected that source.
3. Ask an open-ended question to classmates based on what help you need either finding common ground or doing the background research on your topic.
4. Finally, wrap up your post by sharing the author’s name, the title of the source, and the link to the source.
